Walking Dead, The: Onslaught

The Walking Dead: Onslaught is, in many ways, the distillation of everything a fan might want from a Walking Dead game. Drawing from the TV show, it drops you right into The Walking Dead's post-apocalyptic world for some immersive, visceral, zombie-slaying VR action. Zombie killing was, let's face it, the first thing many of our minds went to when we first strapped on a VR helmet. It makes sense, then, that developer Survios went there when it got its hands on the Walking Dead license. The core of the action is a story mode starring Norman Reedus as Daryl Dixon. It's backed up by the highly replayable Supply Run, which has you scrambling to grab as much loot as possible while keeping a looming wall of walkers at bay. The two tie together thanks to a system of gated progress that has you saving survivors and progressing through the story when you reach certain milestones, so the more survivors you rescue in the supply run the more progress you'll make in the main story. The gameplay is pure zombie-killing fun. You'll shoot them, hack them and even strangle them as you fight for your own survival. It's bloody, in-your-face stuff - exactly what you want from a virtual reality Walking Dead game!
