Back in 2014 EA Sports UFC not only brought mixed martial arts (MMA) back to EA, it also brought UFC back to consoles. Some fans felt the action was a little too fast, but EA listened and patched it to add weight, impact and deliberateness to the game. Now developer EA Canada has returned to the sport to build out from the foundations it laid in the first game in the series. EA Sports UFC was the first UFC game with a female roster, but EA Canada has pushed the boat out further to not only greatly expand the female line-up, but to pack the roster as a whole chock full with both modern fighters and legends. The controls have been improved, and now the lag some criticised in EA Sports UFC is gone and every strike feels like it matters. That's backed up with graphics that really portray the impact of blows - cuts, bruises and welts persist, build up and create a powerful sense of watching a real fight. Further beefing up UFC 2 are new modes. Arguably the biggest is Ultimate Team, a game type that fans of other EA Sports franchises will recognise. In it, players put together their own team of five fighters using UFC 2's deep customisation tools then set about taking them to victory either offline or in online competitions. KO Mode will ease in casual fans, or satisfy those just looking for a quick and dirty blowout. It removes grappling from the game, making it less technical and all about letting the fists and feet fly. Elsewhere in the menu players will find the likes of a custom event creator, online championships and the returning Career Mode. In other words, there's plenty to offer for both dedicated and casual UFC fans alike.
